What we learn from the Bible in verses like the ones above:
1. God loves the world and He desires that we know Him.
He reaches out to us through the magnificence of the universe and His creation, miracles, His Word, His Son, His Spirit and His people. God offers everyone the gift of eternal life. It is a gift, not earned or deserved.
2. We all need God and His forgiveness.
Every single person has sinned, even when we try to live a good life. We cannot save ourselves.
3. God sent His Son.
At a moment in history, God sent the Messiah, his Son to earth. Jesus had a miraculous birth, lived a sinless life, healed diseases, blindness, and paralysis, walked on water, silenced storms, fed the 5,000, and brought people back to life who had died. He talked about eternal life but also an abundant life - love, joy, peace, kindness, faith, hope, generosity and justice. Lastly, he showed the power of God by coming back to life three days after he had been crucified on a cross.
4. We respond to God by faith.
Like a person says "I do" when they are married, the Bible says our relationship with God is changed forever in a split second when we say "I do" to the Lord in our heart. The Bible uses several words to describe our response to God like "believe" "repent" "receive" "follow" "faith" "call" "open the door" "trust" and "saved".
Jesus said in John 3:3 "No one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."
Just like our lives were changed, Jesus Christ can
change your life too, right this moment, if you ask Him to!
